Jeff Cox, of FuelCell Energy, Inc., will present a program and tour of the fuel cell power generating system in opeartion at the Sheraton Hotel on Harbor Island. The current status of stationary fuel cell systems in the U.S. and the usage of renewable biofuels to produce renewable hydrogen as a fuel for hydrogen powered vehicles will be also be discussed.
About the system. FuelCell Energy's DFC300 system is a self-contained electrical power generation system capable of providing high-quality baseload power up to 300 kW, with 47% electrical efficiency, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Unlike other fuel cell products, DFCs internally reform readily available fuels such as natural gas and anaerobic digester gas into the hydrogen gas required to power the fuel cell system. This internal reformation process is key to the DFC's ability to operate at such high electrical efficiency.
Featuring ultra-low emissions, low operating noise, and a small footprint (600 sq. ft), the DFC300 is suitable for locations where traditional power generation technologies are not feasible or desirable. The DFC300 can be used for on-site power generation, cogeneration and Combined Heat and Power (CHP), and distributed energy grid support. The system is suitable for a wide range of applications, including food/beverage processing plants, manufacturing facilities, hotels, hospitals, universities, and utilities.
About the Speaker. Jeff Cox, Director of Business Development and California Legislative Policy Coordinator at FuelCell Energy, Inc., has been with the company for four years where he guides the company's state policy initiatives. Prior to joining FCE, Jeff worked with multiple California utilities as a consultant measuring the performance of various renewable generation technologies. An electrician since 1983, Jeff has worked for the last 20 years in the energy efficiency and distributed generation fields. Jeff majored in Electrical Engineering at USD, graduated from Cal Sate San Marcos with a BA in History, and completed an MBA at the University of Redlands where he did specialized research in energy technology.
